TRiKC's Spring Training Cycling/Brick

PARK IN THE LARGE PARKING LOT NEXT TO BUILDING 40 ACROSS THE STREET FROM FOUNDERS PARK.

It is time to dust off your helmet, fill up your tires, and hit the road for some Spring Training. Join TRiKC members each Tuesday to warm up for the triathlon season. These sessions will include both cycling and running (bricks) with the emphasis on building a base. The relaxed setting of Corporate Woods allows you to go as fast or as slow as you like and still be part of the group. So join us and Spring into Action. Park and meet at the North Park Pavilion at 6:15. Join us for After Hours after the brick.

In regard to the TRiKC Brick Workouts, we want triathletes to feel comfortable and safe. So, in these uncertain times, we are setting some rules for our workouts. As triathletes, we are already accustomed to some of these rules, albeit for other reasons. So, until a solution is discovered to resolve the virus issue, here are our rules for attendance at TRiKC Brick Workouts. We trust you will follow them.

Preliminary

If you feel sick or have been sick or have been around someone who has been sick, for any reason, within the last 14 days do not come to the brick workout. Stay home. If we have club members who cannot attend the Brick workouts, we will accommodate you with virtual cycling workouts onThursdays. Just let us know.

Do not park your vehicle closer than 7 meters (23 feet) to another vehicle. In many cases, this will have 1.5 empty parking spot between each vehicle.

Bring any protective gear which you feel necessary, including a mask and disinfectant wipes.

Do not share equipment, including tire pumps, water bottles, or nutrition. Get these things in order before the workout.

If you are in the category of a High-risk individual, continue to stay home except for essential needs until your doctor advises you that participation is okay.

Cycling

Except for reasons of safety, all cyclists shall keep to the right on the workout course unless passing.

Ride 7 meters (23 feet) or more behind the rear wheel of the cyclist in front of you.

If you want to pass the cyclist in front of you, you must do so within 15 seconds and avoid coming within 2 meters (6 feet) wide of the bike you pass. If you fail to pass within 15 seconds, immediately drop back 7 meters (23 feet).

When the leading edge of the front wheel of a cyclist passes beyond the front wheel of your bike, you have been overtaken and must immediately move to the rear dropping at least 7 meters (23 feet) back.

Running

Stay at least 3 meters (10 feet) behind other runners.

If you pass a runner, try to stay 2 meters (6 feet) wide of the runner as you pass.

Do not spit or blow your nose if there is a runner passing you or 3 meters (10 feet) behind you.

Social Gathering

Do not gather in groups and stay at least 2 meters (6 feet) away from others in all directions.

Disinfect your surroundings on a regular basis.

Wash your hands on a regular basis.

Carry with you and use when needed single use, splash resistant gloves. Remember, gloves should be removed carefully to protect your skin from contamination and you should wash your hands after removing gloves.

You are encouraged to carry a mask and wear it if you cannot keep the appropriate distance from others.

Avoid physical contact with other people.

Wash your workout clothing with soap after each workout.

Shower thoroughly after each workout.

And do not forget about the governmental recommendations that provide in everyday life we are encouraged to wear barrier masks whenever we are out in the community. These barrier masks should be laundered daily. Continue frequent hand washing, refrain from touching our face and continue to practice staying 6 feet away from others.
