Welcome to the “TriKIDS” web page. We are excited that you are interested in the sport of triathlon and we hope you check back often for information and tips concerning the sport. Triathlon is for youth, but in addition triathlon is in the Olympics which gives you a chance to be an Olympian. We invite you to become an official member of TRiKC and to join our elite youth team. Our web page will give you access to all the valuable information and many other benefits. We also invite you to participate in the J Youth Triathlon, The Youth Triathlon at the Y, and the JCPRD Kids Triathlon which are held every summer. Each of these events provides a fun and healthy opportunity to help children stay active. By combining swimming, biking and running in one sport, participants benefit from a well-rounded fitness activity while enhancing their endurance and strength, all while having fun. Team Work Makes Dreams Work (Youth Triathlon Team)

Join our youth tri team! SBR Elite Training and Racing is a triathlon youth development program for junior triathletes ages 6 through 15 providing youth triathlon training. Team members are trained by USA Triathlon coaches that are committed to building champions in the sport of triathlon. Members of the team SBR Elite squad should possess a strong desire to train as a triathlete and to compete at a high level. SBR Elite squad is an USA Triathlon Team and athletes are trained and prepped for team competition at local, regional and junior nationals levels. The team is coached by USA Triathlon certified coaches. There is no fee to be a member of the team so very child has the opportunity to experience swim, bike, run.

Work Hard, Love and Respect Each Other

The SBR Elite Team coaches have been producing youth triathlons for over 30 years and have a combined 75+ years of youth triathlon coaching experience. The SBR Elite Team has a proven track record of achieving successful outcomes for young triathletes from National Champions to countless podium finishes. The coaches work closely together to foster a positive and productive environment for each team member.

Every youth athlete deserves to train and compete in as safe an environment as possible. Each SBR Elite Team coach is SafeSport trained, SafeSport certified, and have passed a Green Light (Clear) Background Check via the NCSI.

In their professional lives as attorneys and health club business owners, the SBR Elite coaches have consistently shown a remarkable ability to navigate the path to success with focus, determination, and an exceptional commitment to maintaining a disciplined work ethic. They each have consistently embraced challenges head-on, demonstrating the willingness to put in the hard work and dedication necessary to achieve outstanding results. They bring this same unwavering dedication and commitment to pursuing excellence to the SBR Elite Team as youth triathlon coaches.

For those ages 15 to 20, we invite you to join our 20u High Performance SBR Elite Team is dedicated to supporting team members in their pursuit of non-drafting and draft-legal triathlon racing. Team participation can lead to the integration into the Olympic Development Pipeline of USA Triathlon or non-drafting professional or age group racing. Members are local to the Kansas City area and non-local satellite athletes. The program is designed to help junior triathletes succeed on national and international stages in high school, collegiate, and professional formats. We strive to develop a love of the sport of triathlon for our athletes. We welcome all interested!

Squad members need swim goggles, swimsuit, bike shorts, running clothes and their own bike. Other training equipment will also be recommended depending on the needs of the athlete.

Custom personalized coaching by a USA Triathlon and Ironman Certified Coach with over 40 years of experience in the sport is also available to team members all year around and is free except for a small expense for use of the online training platform. Whatever your ability is, if you are looking to push yourself further in triathlon, take advantage of this free opportunity to get a training program tailored to your needs.

TRiKC and the Jewish Community Center are proud to host The J Youth Triathlon at the Jewish Community Center on June 23, 2024. The JCC is the perfect venue for a fun and challenging event. The race distances for the various age groups are Tri for Tots: 25-yard kiddie pool walk/swim, .75-mile bike, .25-mile run; Ages 6-10: 100-yard pool swim, 3-mile bike, and 1 mile run; Ages 11-14: 200-meter pool swim, 6-mile bike, and 2-mile run; and Teen Elite: 300-meter pool swim, 6-mile bike, 2-mile run. This event will also feature a competition for triathlon teams.

THE YOUTH TRIATHLON AND AQUATHON

TRiKC is excited to announce that in conjunction with the YMCA of North Kansas City we are bringing the youth of our community The Youth Triathlon on July 28, 2024. Giving every child the opportunity to experience swim, bike, run. Below are The Youth Triathlon distances and events.

Tri for Tots Course (Ages 1-6):  Swim: wade in the water (swim); Bike: .3-mile bike; Run: .2-mile run

Just Tri It (Ages 4-14): This non-competitive division provides an opportunity for everyone to have the chance to participate in a triathlon. The non-competitive division will start toward the end of the Sprint Course distance. This group is not eligible for competitive awards. Approved swim aids are allowed. The distance is 50-yard swim, 2.2km bike, .7km run.

Aquathon (Ages 7-14): This is a non-competitive event in which participants swim 50 yards and then run 1.4km. It is all about being introduced into participating in the exciting world of multisport. If you have a swimsuit, running shoes, and a positive attitude, you are ready to conquer this challenge. Looking forward to seeing the smile on your face when you cross the finish line and get your medal.

Sprint Course (Ages 8 and under): Swim: 50 yards; Bike: 2.2 km; Run: .7 km

Intermediate Course (Ages 9-10):  Swim: 100 yards; Bike: 4.5 km; Run: 1.4 km

Long Course (Ages 11-14): Swim: 200 yards; Bike: 8.3 km; Run: 2 km

2024 Packet pick up for The Youth Triathlon will be at Blue Bike Health and Fitness from 4pm to 6pm on Friday, July 26, and 4p, to 6pm on Saturday, July 27 at the North Kansas City YMCA. Blue Bike is located in Red Bridge Shopping Center at 11128 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Mo 64131.

August 17, 2024, at Kill Creek Park. Triathletes aged 14 years and younger will compete in individual age groups in this race that is an event for all abilities. The bike is inside Kill Creek Park with completely closed roads. The swim is inside the swim beach area with buoys/ropes on the right and a large group of life safety staff on the left.

Midwest YOUTH Triathlon SERIES

Be part of the Midwest Triathlon Youth Championship Series in which youth triathletes to compete head-to-head for a chance to be crowned the Best TriKID in the Midwest! A Gold medalist, Silver medalist, and Bronze medalist for each age group, male and female. Youth triathletes will participate in the J Youth Triathlon, The Youth Triathlon, and the grand finale at the JCPRD Kids Triathlon. Both male and female competitors will earn points in the following age categories: 8 and under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14. (Note: a participants age is for their age on December 31, 2024). You only need to participate in one of the triathlons to be part of the Series, but your chances of winning are better the more triathlons you complete.

POINTS AND SCORING

Points for each age category

(i) First Place: 4 points

(ii) Second Place: 3 points

(iii) Third Place: 2 points

(iv) All other Finishers: 1 point

1 bonus point for having fastest T1 transition at the J Youth Triathlon or The Youth Triathlon (for chip timed events only)

4 bonus points awarded for completing The Youth Triathlon

Scoring

The final score will be obtained by adding the points earned at all three triathlons. The competitor with the most points in each age category will be the Best TriKID in the Midwest. In case of a tie, the competitor with the most points earned at The Youth Triathlon will be the winner, and the second tie break will be the fastests overall time at the Youth Triathlon.

REGISTRATION

All kids 6 to 14 are invited to participate and there is no additional fee to be part of the series. When you register for the J Youth Triathlon or The Youth Triathlon, simply check the box that you want to be part of the series. TRiKC LONGVIEW JR TRIATHLON

We are very disappointed to announce that the oldest youth triathlon in the world, the TRiKC Longview Jr. Triathlon presented by the Lee's Summit Parks and Recreation Department will not be held again this year. Hopefully someday we will be able to hold this great event again. This was a nationally recognized triathlon is held at the Longview Recreation in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. It was the foundation of youth triathlon in Kansas City. The triathlon memories of the wonderful days of this event will live on forever. Please join us at one of our other great youth triathlons.
